Open since 1995, the simple cooking and warm, friendly atmosphere has allowed The Mustard Seed to become one of Inverness’s favourite restaurants. The Location on the banks of the River Ness in a converted church building is simply stunning and helps create the wonderful ambience.

The transformation from disused church to restaurant created a unique space; with a double-height ceiling and magnificent open log fire. Many of the original period features were retained and combined with a mix of natural and modern finishes. The addition of the terrace on the top floor allows alfresco dining and uninterrupted views of the River, another amazing asset for the restaurant.

  • There's a reason for those +4K great reviews (Trip Advisor, Sep19)

This was our favorite restaurant in Inverness, with superb food and outstanding service. I even took a major chance and tried an appetizer with figs, which I usually loathe. (OMG, they were heavenly!) Every course was outstanding, and my husband received a very thoughtful suggestion on whiskey that allowed him to find a new favorite. One tip: absolutely make a reservation. We sat at a table near the entrance early on a Monday evening and saw at least 20-30 walk-ins nicely turned away as we dined because there were no seats open until 9:30 or later. Highly recommend!

  • Our visit here was very nice (Google Review, Sep19)

We came in a large group and the food was very delicious. I had fish and mushroom soup. The service was excellent. It was fast and the staff was very nice and polite. They were always checking on us if everything was to our needs. We accidentally order more ice cream because we didn’t know the apple crumble came with ice cream, they took the extra order back nicely. The music and atmosphere here is also very pleasant. I would come back here again if I am in this town in the future.

  • Probably best restaurant in Inverness (Trip Advisor, Sep19)

We loved Mustard Seed. Biggest disappointment was not being able to eat there a second time. Make sure you have reservations or you probably wont get in. Regardless of what night of the week your going. They also have travel groups dine here so the place is busy. Our food was fantastic. It was also reasonably priced.

  • Loved the Mustard Seed! (Fiona Murchie, Google Review, Sep19)

Loved the Mustard Seed! There was a real buzz about the atmosphere. It feels very European and modern even though it’s in an old building. It’s obviously very popular so booking essential. The food was delicious and the staff were excellent. Worth going to Inverness just for this.

  • Most Creative, Thoughtful and Delicious Meal (Trip Advisor, Oct19)

  • Enjoyed another fabulous meal last night in the Mustard Seed (Facebook Review, Sep19)

Excellent understanding of wheat and dairy intolerance and adjusted the menu accordingly. Reassuring to have had this kind of attention when some Inverness Restaurants are less accommodating. Looking forward to seeing you all soon. PS Quintins Espresso Martinis are still the best 👍😁
